"Rekhao ka khel hai muqaddar,
Rekhao se maat kha rahe ho...
Watching this song reminds me of a wonderful actor Raj Kiran who went missing for over a decade and was found in an asylum of Altlanta. Its quite ironical how the most talented actors goes through domestic crisis, getting homeless, found in asylums or had a lonely tragic ending to their lives. Few months back, Deepti Naval had posted on her FB wall "Looking for a friend from the film world his name is Raj Kiran - we have no news of him - last heard he was driving a cab in NY city if anyone has any clue, please tell . .
" He pays for his own treatment in Atlanta. Says Rishi Kapoor, "Yes, apparently, he looks after his own treatment by working within the institution. It's a heart-rending situation for an actor who was so successful at one time. But I'm just happy to know he's alive.
They say you have to pay heavy price for the fame and sometimes that price is so high.
Parveen Babi, the most beautiful and natural performer of her time talked about her illness and her need of coming out of entertainment industry in one of the tapes she sent to Mahesh Bhatt. The silences between her words spoke to me more eloquently than her words did. ‘Close the door Mahesh,’ she whispered. ‘They are coming to kill us. Close the door quickly!’ 'Missing,' they said. 'God knows where she is,' they said. 'Saw her in the States,' they said. 'Crazy,' they said ... the last epithet, unfortunately, stuck.
Parveen Babi shared romantic relationships with co stars Danny Denzongpa, Kabir Bedi and eventually the notable filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Her personal life witnessed serious ups and downs leaving her in terrifying loneliness and distress. Her life shambled due to her shattered relationships, health problems and personal crisis. Parveen Babi was deeply in love with Kabir Bedi and she moved to Europe to stay with him. However she realized that Kabir became extremely involved with his career and did not care enough for her and eventually the couple split up leaving her in agony and despair.
“I never believed in hiding my relationships. I had my share of them and with some of the most good looking men. I always knew Kabir was a good looking man but perhaps never realised just how much of one. Once, we were in Amsterdam and as tourists, we were taken to a red light street. As we were walking down the street, there was this lady who bent to tie her shoe laces. When she looked up and saw Kabir, her eyes popped out! Kabir really had an impact on women! According to me, he was the Renaissance man! Danny was also quite good look¬ing. Mahesh too, had a very pleasant face when I was going around with him. There was something very bright and special about him. Mahesh was a mad genius! “
"Excuse the lack of lights in the hall, but the international mafia has cut off my electricity. It is a gameplan to harass me," she whispered. She had been diagnozed of"possible paranoid schizophrenia".Though it was not a confirmed diagnosis since the analysis was done 'in absentia'. "I was almost killed by 'them' when they dropped a chandelier where I'd been sitting on the sets a few moments ago. It's a good thing that I'd moved." Babi was associating a real set accident that had happened with an attempt to knock her off. Just as she was associating everyone as a member of an International crime syndicate and everyone was involved. She alleged that she had concrete evidence against Sunjay Dutt and his participation in the infamous Mumbai bomb blasts. Not many know that she had made a similar allegation when she lodged a complaint against 34 including Amitabh Bachchan and former US President Bill Clinton ,who she accused of plotting to kill her. However the court dismissed her petition owing to lack of evidences.
Her body was found with an old newspaper clipping of her. It is shocking that the stunning beauty who once ruled the hearts of millions of fans lived a lonesome life and suffered an isolated death.
“Today, the majority of the industry has cut ties with me because of one man… Anyway, I don’t feel let down. On the contrary, I feel it’s their loss. The film industry is wonderful in the beginning, when you are in your youth. But then, it doesn’t let you grow in any other direction. The reason I didn’t attempt to make a comeback in the industry, is firstly because this man is still there and secondly, over the years, I have discov¬ered a whole new world outside. Writing, philosophy, painting, organized thinking, great and classic litera¬ture… There is just one life and so much to achieve.” (As told to Ranjeeta in 1998).
